I’m from Gaza and I have a Mastodon account. How can I join Gaza Verified?

Send me (Aral) a direct message on Mastodon and we’ll take it from there.

What does the verification process look like?

It’s very simple: we have a quick video chat on Signal, after which I add you to Gaza Verified after confirming that you are the same person as in your Mastodon account.

What is Signal?

Signal is a private messaging application that is end-to-end encrypted. Think of it as a private WhatsApp.

Where can I get Signal?

Only download Signal via the links on the Signal home page.

Those links will take you the official app store for your mobile or desktop platform if there is one. (iOS, macOS, Android, Linux, and Windows are supported.)

I‘ve been verified, how do I add the link to my Mastodon profile?

You will have to edit your Mastoson profile to add a new link to your list of links.

For the link label, enter: Gaza Verified
For the link content, enter: https://gaza-verified.org

How do I do that using the Mastodon web interface?

In the Web interface, the links are found in the “extra fields” section under Preferences → Public profile.

How do I do that using the native Mastodon apps (iOS and Android)?

On the mobile Mastodon apps, select your profile button (the one with your photo on it) and then press the Edit Info button.
